He saw every child as a precious gift of God, and he refused to leave the orphaned and the abandoned behind.

 St. Josephine Bakhita showed gentle love and compassion for children and the wounded. Having suffered greatly in her own life, she treated others with deep kindness, patience, and care. She comforted the hurting, nurtured children with tenderness, and shared God’s love through her example of mercy and forgiveness.

 The Blessed Virgin Mary shows a mother’s love for all children, the poor, and the abandoned. From the Apostles to St. Juan Diego and the children of Fatima, she teaches them the truth, protects them in their struggles, and draws them close to God. As a spiritual mother, she never forgets or leaves anyone behind, offering comfort, guidance, and hope to those who need it most.

 St. Margaret of Castello understood rejection and abandonment deeply because she was born with disabilities and left behind by her own family. Instead of growing bitter, she turned her pain into compassion. She welcomed the unwanted, comforted the lonely, and showed that God never abandons anyone, even when people do.

St. Damien of Molokai

 St. Damien of Molokai cared for the outcast and abandoned lepers on the island of Molokai, Hawaii. He lived among those with leprosy, treating them not as outcasts but as family. He built homes, churches, and clinics, offering dignity, comfort, and hope. Even as he shared their suffering, he showed God’s love through compassion and sacrifice.

 St. Anna Wang’s love for children in China was shown through her courage and faith. Even as a young girl herself, she inspired and protected other children by her example of trust in God. She encouraged them to stay strong in their faith and showed that true love sometimes means guiding others with bravery and hope. She was a martyr for her faith.

 St. Mary MacKillop opened schools in Australia for poor and abandoned children. She cared for those who were neglected, and made sure everyone felt seen and loved. With kindness and faith, she treated the forgotten with dignity and gave children hope through education and love.

 Mother Teresa’s care for the poor and abandoned in India was matchless and untiring. She saw Christ in the most neglected, served them with love and dignity, and gave them comfort, hope, and a sense of belonging when the world had forgotten them.

 In the Bible, Guardian Angels protect all children on God's behalf. Jesus said that children’s angels always see the face of the Father in heaven (Matthew 18:10), showing their closeness to God. They watch over, guide, and defend children, keeping them safe and leading them toward God’s love.

 St. Francis Cabrini worked hard so the poor immigrant children in New York City could have an education. She built schools and orphanages so they could grow in faith, knowledge, and hope. Through her efforts, she showed them the way to a brighter future.

 St. Nicholas of Myra is known for protecting children from human trafficking in Turkey and providing for their needs out of his own funds. He is remembered for his generosity, especially in gift-giving, and for safeguarding children from danger. He was also an avid defender of the divinity of Christ.
